NOTES
    • When installing the AMD Catalyst Driver for Windows® operating system, the user must be logged on as Administrator, or have Administrator rights to complete the installation of the AMD Catalyst Driver.
    • The AMD Catalyst 13.12 Software Suite requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to be installed.
    • These release notes provide information on the AMD Catalyst Display Driver only. For information on the AMD Multimedia Center™, HydraVision, HydraVision Basic Edition, Remote Wonder™, or the Southbridge/IXP driver, please refer to their respective release notes found at: http://support.amd.com/.
    • The AMD Catalyst 14.4 Software Suite requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 to be installed. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 is included in all Catalyst packages.
    • AMD Eyefinity technology is designed to give gamers access to high display resolutions. As pixel count grows, the graphics "horsepower" required to drive the displays at a reasonable frame rate can increase dramatically. Depending on the game and system configuration, users may notice texture corruption and reduced frame rates when running games in multi-monitor Eyefinity modes.
    • Windows Driver Model (WDM) drivers are no longer bundled in the AMD Catalyst software suite. The WDM drivers install bundle can be downloaded independently through the AMD website.

No 20nm Products from AMD this year either

The 20nm node remains to be problematic and as such companies stick to 28nm for the time being. Next in line is AMD who confirmed in an interview that the company will use 28nm this year throughout the year. According to the transcript of Advanced Micro Devices’ CEO Discusses Q1 2014 Results – Earnings Call, AMD will stick to 28nm process this year. The company is in the process of designing 20nm architecture and it will then move to FinFET 16nm.
"I think what I said earlier sort of what we're doing in terms of technology strategy, we are 28 this year, we have 20-nanometer in design, and then FinFET thereafter. So that's the overall product portfolio," she said.
Both AMD and NVIDIA bake their GPUs at TSMC, which has faced delays in implementing its 20 nanometer silicon fab node transition, forcing both companies to come up with new GPUs on existing 28 nm nodes.
NVIDIA is expected to tape out its performance-segment GM204 and mid-range GM206 chips, both of which are 28 nm, later this month, and the first GeForce GTX products based on the two are expected to be released in late-Q4 2014 and early-Q1 2015, respectively.
Lisa Su – SVP and General Manager of Global Business Units

Sure, Chris. So let me take that and give you a little bit of our thinking.

So in terms of product and technology selection, certainly we need to be at the leading-edge of the technology roadmap. So what we’ve said in the past is certainly this year all of our products are in 28-nanometer across both, you know, graphics client and our semi-custom business. We are, you know, actively in the design phase for 20-nanometer and that will come to production. And then clearly we’ll go to FinFET. So that would be the progression of it.

AMD 64-bit ARM chips are already sampling

ARM based processors will be a big thing for AMD, AMD's 64-bit ARM-based server chips, code-named "Seattle", will come to market late this year already. "We've reached a significant milestone in our ambidextrous strategy," said AMD CEO Rory Read, using the company's term for its two-fisted x86 and ARM server-chip one-two punch during a conference call after announcing AMD's financial results for the first quarter of 2014 on Thursday.
"We have introduced Seattle, our first 64-bit ARM server processor and the industry's first at 28nm technology, positioning AMD as the only SoC provider to bridge the x86 and ARM ecosystems for server applications," he said. "We are excited to announce that we have started sampling Seattle last quarter and plan to ship in the fourth quarter of 2014."
"There's been a lot of customer interest around Seattle," said AMD's SVP and GM of global business units Lisa Su, also on the call, "certainly for the server guys, the hyperscale guys, and even some adjacent markets."
The two most important things that AMD is working on in the run-up to Seattle's release, Su said, are platform development and software development – but AMD is making no promises about how much Seattle is going to bring to the company's bottom line.
"Relative to revenue, it's probably too early to tell what's going to happen in 2015, but I'd say the interest in the platform is quite high," she said.
From Read's point of view, AMD's timing is spot on. "We're catching it just as the wave is forming," he said. "This is going to be an important market over the next three, five, 10 years."
Su also said that although it's in AMD's business plan to have Seattle appear in its SeaMicro systems, don't expect to see that happen when Seattle debuts late this year. Such systems are in development, she said, but also emphasized that "the Q4 statement was a chip statement."
The SeaMicro fabric certainly gives AMD a leg-up over other 64-bit ARM players, but from Su's point of view that's not the only attraction of the Seattle project. "There's general interest in ARM, there's interest in trying out the new workloads," she said.
"I think we see the fabric as an important differentiator, but we see that as a long-term differentiator in the systems portion of the business.

AMD Never Settle Forever bundle Now In Effect

AMD just announced their Never Settle Forever game bundle promotion. Basically you purchase selected Radeon graphics cards, and you will receive free games. This new bundle is split into three groups:buyers of the R9 280/290/295X2 series get three free games, the R7 260 and R9 270 series get two games and the R5 250 and R7 240 get one game. AMD will let you use your keys till August 2014.
This bundle will change as new titles will be added, so even if you reclaim two of your game now, you will still be able to reclaim the game that is not even on the list yet. At this point it is unknown which games will be added later. AMD has also added 4 indie game, which will be available in a pack of two, so one choice equals two indie games (see below for the list).
So we see some  games such as Hitman, Tomb Raider and Thief but also classics such as Just Cause 2 and Dirt 3. Considering the fact that you are basically getting them for free, you can’t really argue the additional value.
