iOS 4.3.4 Jailbroken Already On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch Using PwnageTool Bundle [Tutorial] -remondpie

Apple has just pushed out iOS 4.3.4 for the iPhone, iPad and the iPod touch. And thankfully, we have cooked custom PwnageTool bundles which allows you to jailbreak any device (except for iPad 2) running iOS 4.3.4, and at the same time preserve your baseband for an Ultrasn0w unlock later on.

We have tested and can 100% confirm that they are working. Keep in mind that the jailbreak is tethered for now, in other words, if your device loses power or restarts then you would have to boot it into the jailbroken state again. No matter how annoying it may sound, but its better than having no jailbreak at all.

Cydia, running on iPhone 4 GSM, iOS 4.3.4

The neat thing about PwnageTool is that it allows you to preserve your iPhone’s baseband, which aids in unlocking your iPhone later on using Ultrasn0w unlock. In this guide we’ll show you how you can jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.2.4, preserve your baseband and unlock it with Ultrasn0w, let’s get to it!
Things you’ll need:

• PwnageTool 4.3.3
• iOS 4.3.4 firmware
• iTunes 10.3.1
• Mac OS X
• PwnageTool bundles for iOS 4.3.4
• tetheredboot utility

Important note:

• There is no unlock for iOS 4.3.4’s baseband, hence do not hit the update button in iTunes if you rely on a carrier unlock.
• Your baseband will be preserved during the whole process.
• This jailbreak is semi-tethered.
• Hacktivation is fully supported

Modify PwnageTool
Step 1: Download the custom PwnageTool bundle for iPhone 4 from this link. (Please DO NOT hotlink this file. These bundles have been created by Redmond Pie. Credit the original source. Thanks)
Extract the .zip on your desktop, and inside it you should see a .bundle file. For this guide we’re going to use the iPhone 4 bundle, you should choose the one that applies to your device. Move the .bundle file to your desktop.
Step 2: Download PwnageTool 4.3.3 and then copy it to the /Applications directory. Right click on the PwnageTool icon and then click on Show Package Contents. Refer to the screenshot below if you’re having confusion:

Step 3: Now you’re going to navigate to the following address: Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ and paste the .bundle file which you copied to your desktop in this location.

Build Custom iOS 4.3.4 Firmware
Step 4: Download iOS 4.3.4 from this link tailored for your iOS device and save it on your desktop.
Step 5: Fire up PwnageTool in Expert mode and select your device as show in the screenshot below:

Step 6: Now you’re going to browse for the iOS 4.3.4 firmware for your device, direct it to the location where you downloaded the iOS 4.3.4 file.

Step 7: Now click on Build.

Step 8: PwnageTool will now create a jailbroken IPSW firmware file for your iOS device.

Step 9: Now you’re going to put your iOS device in DFU mode, follow the on screen steps on how to do so, they are as follows:

• Hold down the Power and Home buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.
• Let go of the Power button but keep on holding the Home button for 10 seconds.
• If you followed the steps correctly, then you’re in DFU mode.

Restore Your Device to iOS 4.3.4 Using iTunes
Step 10: Start up iTunes on your Mac and select your device from the sidebar on the left. Hold down the “alt” key on your keyboard and click on “Restore”, do not press “Update” or “Check for Update”.

Now a pop up window will appear, simply guide it to the jailbroken custom iOS 4.3.4 file which was created by PwnageTool, then click Open.
Step 11: From this point onwards, iTunes will do its thing and restore your device to the jailbroken iOS 4.3.4 custom firmware file. Don’t do anything crazy at this point, just let iTunes complete its job. When everything is done, your device will boot up into a custom jailbroken version of iOS 4.3.4.
How to Boot Tethered?
Since this is not a tethered jailbreak therefore you have to boot into the jailbroken state every time your device loses power. Simply follow the steps given below on how to do so using “tetheredboot” utility.
Step 12: Download the tetheredboot utility from this link. Extract the zip file.
Step 13: Make a copy of the custom iOS 4.3.4 firmware file which you created, rename it to .zip instead of .ipsw. And extract the file. We need two files from the extracted zip file, kernelcache.release.n90 and iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu.
Copy both these files under the location /Firmware/dfu/ from the custom iOS 4.3.4 firmware file. Now move them to the directory where the tetheredboot utility is lying, refer to the screenshot below:

Step 14: Turn off your iPhone, start Terminal on your Mac and type in the following commands:

sudo –s

Enter your administrator password, whatever that might be, then type the following:

/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/tetheredboot
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/kernelcache.release.n90

The commands might be a different on your Mac, replace “TaimurAsad” with the name of the user directory on your Mac accordingly.
Hit Enter key.
In case if the above doesn’t work, then try the following:

/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/tetheredboot –i
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/iBSS.n90ap.RELEASE.dfu -k
/Users/TaimurAsad/Desktop/tetheredboot/kernelcache.release.n90

Quick tip: Drag and drop the tetheredboot file, the iBSS file and then the kernelcache.release file into Terminal.

You will now see some code running in Terminal and in a short while, it will ask you to put your device in DFU mode, you can do so by following the steps given below:

• Hold down the Power and Home buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.
• Let go of the Power button but keep on holding the Home button for 10 seconds.
• If you followed the steps correctly, then you’re in DFU mode.

Wait for you device, and you should see “Exiting libpois0n” message on Terminal. In a short amount of time, your device will boot into the jailbroken tethered state, that’s it, you’re done.

Microsoft Windows 8 Build 7850 Leaks

MIX 2011 kicked off today and it looks like day one ended with a bang. Not only did Microsoft reveal Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 1, but as it turns out a rather early build of Windows 8 has appeared in the wild.
Build 6.1.7850.0.winmain_win8m1.100922-1508 to be exact happens to be the last build that Microsoft finalized before Milestone 1 of Windows 8. Initially, build 7850 leaked via FTP, but now torrent links have started appearing on the internet as well.


Back at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2011 in Las Vegas, Microsoft showed an early build of Windows 8 and it turns out that the leaked Windows 8 build 7850 is actually six months older than the build that was demostrated by Microsoft at CES 2011.
Among other expected features of Windows 8 which includes Metro UI, Modern Reader, SmartScreen file checking security, History Vault and OEM activation, one recently leaked feature is Windows App Store which shall not only be included in Windows 8 but will also be available as a standalone software supported by Windows 7.
Apparently the Windows App Store looks similar to Apple’s Mac App Store, but it might be the largest store for PCs, I guess. A vast number of applications, ranging from games to office applications and from browsers to internet related app will be available for download.
However, don’t expect the leaked build 7850 to have all of these features because as per the reports up till now, it looks like build 7850 is just Windows 7 with User Tile enabled.

Musclenerd: iOS 4.3.1 Ultrasn0w Unlock Available Today

iPhone Dev Team member Musclenerd has taken it upon himself to announce that testing has begun on the iOS 4.3.1 unlock via Ultrasn0w, and that the updated tool is to be launched later today.

Available to iPhone owners via Cydia after jailbreaking their handset, Ultrasn0w is the iPhone Dev Team’s reliable unlock utility which allows users to switch carriers, bypassing the limitations imposed by Apple and supported operators.

Via a tweet fired off a few hours ago, Musclenerd said “4.3.1-compat ultrasn0w update for *current unlockers* is out to external testers.” He confirmed that, “Barring any hiccups, release is tonight.”

In a recent blog post, the Team warned Ultrasn0w unlockers that they should hold their horses.

“WARNING WARNING — ultrasn0w users don’t update yet!  We need to first release an update to ultrasn0w that fixes some incompatibilities when FW 4.3.1 is used on the older basebands supported by ultrasn0w,” read the post.

“And remember once we do fix ultrasn0w for 4.3.1 (we’ll announce it here and on twitter), you must only get there via a custom IPSW from PwnageTool, Sn0wbreeze or xpwn!  Don’t ever try to restore or update to a stock IPSW, or you’ll lose the unlock!”

In other words, those who plan on unlocking their iPhones on iOS 4.3.1 will need to perform their iOS 4.3.1 software update by employing one of the jailbreak utilities enumerated above.

Daha evvelki güncellemelerde olduğu gibi öncelikle iTunes üzerinden cihazımızı USB kablosuyla bilgisayarımıza bağlıyoruz. Ardından daiTunes’un sol menüsündeki iPhone simgesine tıklayıp, sonra da  ekranda çıkan “Check for Update” seçeneğine tıklıyoruz.

Ardında da iTunes, sunucularına bağlanıp bize 4.3.1 isimli yeni bir versiyon olduğunu ve indirmek isteyip istemediğimizi soruyor.

Biz de “Download and Install” (İndir ve Yükle) seçeneğine tıklayarak, yaklaşık 400-600 MB.’lık dosyayı indirme ve ardından yükleme işlemini başlatıyoruz. (Bu arada indirilecek dosyanın büyüklüğü, cihazın modeline göre farklılık gösteriyor. Ayrıca indirme ve yükleme işlemi bağlantı hızınıza göre değişkenlik gösterse de yaklaşık 1-2 saat sürüyor.)

Bu sefer de hatırlatmakda fayda görüyorum; NOD32 gibi bazı antivirus yazılımları, update dosyasının indirilmesi sırasında (genelde işlemin sonunda) hataya sebep veriyor. Bu yüzden güncelleme işlemine başlamadan evvel bu tip antivirus yazılımlarını geçici olarak kapatmak faydalı olabiliyor. Yoksa dosyanın indirilme veya kurulma işlemi “Network Timeout” gibi hatalar verip yarıda veya sonda kesilebiliyor.

iOS 4.3.1 Sürümü Yayınlandı

Beklenen iOS güncellemesi gerçekleşti ve az önce iOS 4.3.1 sürümü yayınlandı. Beklenen diyoruz çünkü iOS 4.3 ve ardından gelen iPad 2 ile beraber jailbreak açığının bulunmasının ardından Apple'ın bu açığı iOs 4.3.1 sürümü ile kapatacağı konuşuluyordu. Ayrıca iOS 4.3 ile beraber cihazlarda yaşanan gözle görülür şarz süresi sorununun da bu sürüm ile çözüm bulacağı konuşulmaktaydı. Bu her iki durumun dışında farklı iyileştirmelerin yapıldığı iOS 4.3.1 sürümünü aşağıdaki bağlantılardan direk olarak indirebilirsiniz. Özellikle unlock ihtiyacı olan ve halen cihazlarını kullanabilenler ile jailbreak'ten vazgeçemeyenlerin bu sürüme cihazlarını en azından şimdilik yükseltmemeleri gerektiğini de hatırlatalım.

Bu uyarı çıktığında "CANCEL" butonuna basmalısınız, eğer "Download and Update" butonuna basarsanız hem iOS 4.3.1 sürümü indirilecek hem de iOS 4.3.1 sürümü özellikle de cihazınızın "baseband sürümü"nü yükselterek yükleneceğini unutmayın. Internet Explorer 9 ups the ante with a set of new features such as slim interface, discreet notification bar and privacy protecting mechanisms. It can also keep you safe from phishing websites or malicious downloads.

The Truth

Internet Explorer 9 moves faster and much better than its predecessor, has a slicker look and adds huge improvements to privacy protection. The new interface is more powerful despite its reduced size. Most of the options have been intelligently docked into icons serving entire menus.

Even with the new JavaScript engine, Chakra, Internet Explorer 9 does not manage to get close to Chrome’s speed and despite the much better handling of tabs it does not attain the customization level available in Firefox. But it is definitely heading the right way and has a strong chance to turn the tables.

AMD to Introduce Three New Bulldozer-based APUs in 2012

AMD is going to extend in Fusion strategy in the following years, the company planning to migrate all its processors to an APU (accelerated processing unit) design in 2012, when the company also wants to introduce the first Bulldozer processor with integrated graphics.
 Not so many details are known at this point about these upcoming CPUs, but an AMD roadmap does reveal a few interesting tidbits of information that give us a short glimpse into the future.

As you most certainly know by now, 2011 will mark the introduction of the Bulldozer and Llano architectures.

However, these are only the first step in AMD's renewal strategy that calls for an entire line of new chips to be unveiled in 2012.

Starting with the mobile segment, 2012 will see the introduction of the Krishna and Wichita APUs that feature one to four enhanced Bobcat cores and an integrated DirectX 11 GPU.

These chips are meant to replace the just introduced Zacate and Otario APUs, and are built using the 28nm manufacturing process.

Moving to the mainstream and performance notebook space, the yet to be released Llano chip will be replaced by the Trinity APU, which features two to four cores as well as DirectX 11 graphics.

However, unlike its predecessor, Trinity will be based on the Bulldozer architecture, further increasing the IPC of the chip.

In the desktop space, Bulldozer is also set to make a splash as two of the three chips to be launched will be based on this architecture.

Dubbed Komodo and Trinity, these chips feature 8 and 2-4 cores, respectively, and come with DirectX 11 compatible GPUs.




Both of them are built using a 32nm manufacturing process.

The third desktop chip following to be launched by AMD is destined to be used in AIO and small form factor PCs, and packs 2 to 4 enhanced Bobcat cores as well as DirectX 11 graphics.

Other details are not available at this time, but it seems like it all depends on the performance level delivered by Bulldozer, early reposts suggesting AMD's upcoming architecture could be as much as 50% faster than present-day Core i7 processors.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 close to release

An update to Windows 7 released yesterday has given a strong clue that a final release of the first service pack for the operating system isn't too far away.

According to a Microsoft support page, the imaginatively-named KB976902 (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 installation software feature update) makes changes to the operating system's servicing stack, needed to install and remove software updates, language packs, optional Windows features, and service packs.

''This update is necessary to successfully install and to remove any service packs to all versions of Windows 7 and on Windows Server 2008 R2,'' the page reads.

As Neowin forum user +TCLN Ryster pointed out, the very same update was required for installation of beta and release candidate versions of Service Pack 1, which would suggest that a finished version of the service pack is nearing a public release. Microsoft has promised that SP1 would be made available in the first half of this year. A public beta was released in July last year, followed by a release candidate in October.

Some Neowin forum users have reported that the update only appears after installing all other available updates and checking again after a restart.

Along with various bug fixes, Service Pack 1 will bring dynamic memory support to Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008 R2, allowing administrators to pool all memory available on a physical host and dynamically distribute it to virtual machines running on that host as needed. RemoteFX will add enhanced desktop virtualization aimed at giving remote users the same experience as those sitting at a workstation.

Given Microsoft's fondness for releasing service packs on either a Monday or a Tuesday - Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and Windows XP Service Pack 3 were both released on Tuesdays, XP Service Pack 1 on a Monday - the soonest Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is likely to be available is January 18.

Businesses can continue to use a blocker tool released in November last year until they are ready to deploy Service Pack 1.
